Frequently Asked Questions

Is PDFEveryone really free?

Yes, all tools are completely free to use. No subscription, no credit card, no hidden charges. An optional free account lets you view your processing history.

Are my files safe and private?

Absolutely. Files are uploaded over HTTPS, processed on our servers, and automatically deleted within 1 hour. We never read, share, or store the contents of your files. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

What is the maximum file size?

The maximum upload size is 20 MB per file. For merge operations, each individual file must be under 20 MB.

How long are my files available for download?

Processed files are available immediately and deleted from our servers within 1 hour. Download your file promptly after processing.

PDF to Word conversion doesn't look right — why?

PDF to Word works best on text-based PDFs. Scanned PDFs (images of pages) don't contain extractable text. Complex multi-column layouts and embedded graphics are simplified during conversion. For scanned documents, consider dedicated OCR software.

Can I unlock any password-protected PDF?

Our Unlock PDF tool removes owner/permissions passwords (which restrict printing and editing). It cannot bypass a user password that prevents the file from being opened — you must know that password yourself.

Do I need to create an account?

No. All tools are fully accessible without an account. Creating a free account gives you access to a processing history dashboard — entirely optional.

Which browsers are supported?

PDFEveryone works on all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on desktop and mobile. Internet Explorer is not supported.

Something isn't working — what should I do?
